Simplicity: A Day of Practicing Together

  • PFMH or Zoom 931 North 5th Avenue Tucson, AZ, 85705 United States (map)

DAYLONG Hybrid (In-Person and Zoom)

What comes to mind when you hear the word "Simplicity?" An uncluttered space? A sparse calendar? Time in nature? These can all be helpful things to cultivate. The true liberative potential of simplicity, however, comes when we notice what is happening in our own minds, and return to the present moment. Simplicity is an inside job.

Among the Buddha's most grounding lessons was how to practice awareness of the body, the First Foundation of Mindfulness. The felt sense of the body is completely uncomplicated: a breath, a sensation, a step. We will offer the Buddha's instructions to help simplify our minds, settle our bodies, and ground ourselves in the present moment. And we will do it together.

You may have heard that this weekend's retreat, What is Awakening with guest teacher Tina Rasmussen, has been cancelled due to weather (Tina cannot get to Tucson!). Terry and David are inspired to offer this free daylong in its place. In the spirit of simplicity, there will be no registration process or fee for this daylong. You can just show up. As always, we gratefully accept your dana, generosity. We are delighted to note that this is the first time in nearly four years that Terry and David will teach side-by-side!

Come join us for a gentle day of teachings and practices. The day will consist of sitting and walking meditation, an interactive process, Q&A, and Dharma teaching.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring whatever sitting gear supports you and please bring your lunch to offer continuity of practice. You are welcome to bring a snack or tea to share. A refrigerator and a microwave will be available.
