Exploring how race and privilege cause suffering around the world — and within me — has become one of the richest areas of my dharma practice. Racial justice becomes possible only when white people are curious about our own racial conditioning. This is a courageous, necessary step toward healing and wholeness for the world and ourselves.
— David Bornstein, IMT Dharma Leader

IMT is excited to promote this highly valuable offering, “White and Awake: Foundations Course,” jointly presented by Spirit Rock Meditation Center and East Bay Meditation Center (EBMC). Dharma teacher JD Doyle writes, “In such divisive times, it is important that we gather to investigate the causes and conditions that gave rise to the polarity and violence that is arising. This course for white practitioners is an opportunity to do that.”

EBMC is regarded as the American dharma leader in programming and community-building that is committed to equity and inclusion at the deepest level. If you are a white-identified practitioner, consider joining this course that is designed to “guide us toward wise effort and wise action in our lives and communities to address the harm arising from race-based oppression" (EBMC website).

In a safe, supportive container, this self-paced and interactive course helps peel back layers of deep conditioning that are usually invisible to white people. The tools of dharma practice uniquely position us to recognize, and ultimately transform these harmful intergenerational patterns, bringing healing to ourselves and our world.
