Samvega – Spiritual Urgency

Practice Support Group

Samvega – Spiritual Urgency

There is a turning point in Dharma practice - At some point it will become clear that awakening is about your whole life, not just about the time you spend on the pillow. This will bring a quality of urgency into your awareness – a feeling perhaps of no time to waste. This is to be encouraged!

Daily Zen Chant

Life and death are of supreme importance.
Time passes swiftly and opportunity is lost.
Let us Awaken
Awaken!
Do not squander your life.

This is samvega – or spiritual urgency!

Contemplations on aging, illness, death, and on Sila (commitment to precepts ), and the Four Great Efforts are useful reminders that “time passes swiftly and opportunites are easily lost!” Please join this September series exploring our dharma practice in the context of changing times. For anyone who has received and practiced instructions in mindfulness.
